Chess School

MCC Chess School is a member-only benefit that offers instructional courses on Thursday nights. These courses complement the competitive over the board play of Tuesday nights, by providing learning as well as socializing. These courses are ideal for the serious student of the game who wants some structure, good feedback, and lots of fun!

A syllabus is provided with required text and games noted. The student is expected to purchase the book and/or database before the course starts. The student is then expected to study and analyze required text and games before each class. Each course will also have a limited budget to bring in Masters for deeper discussion and analysis.

The courses use interactive discussion and group training games as the primary medium of instruction. Since chess improvement is never a quick fix, the courses meet on several Thursdays over a semester. We think that a combination of structured learning in a social environment with serious students of the game will make everyone a winner!
