MCC-CS 101 Endgame Fundamentals

Full year course!

Location:

MetroWest Chess Club, Natick Senior Center

Starts:

Thursday, November 21, 2002

Time:

6:30pm to 10:30pm

Textbook:

Fundamental Chess Endings, by Muller and Lamprecht, Gambit Publications, 2001.

Facilitator:

Howard Goldowsky

Notes from the Facilitator:

1. This is the first course, so the goal is to work any kinks out through feedback once the course gets going. We hope to build the Chess School and it's courses into a successful educational program for the future.

2. Signup instructions will be announced at Round 1 October 2002, or ask Howard Goldowsky at info@metrowestchess.org.

3. Itís not necessary to come to every Thursday night session, but each monthís material builds upon material from the previous month, so students are encouraged to maintain a consistent attendance.

4. If youíre looking for a quick fix to jump-start your rating then this course is not for you. The main purpose of this course is to provide a rock solid foundation in endgame technique that students can then use to build on with tactics and positional study. All levels of ability are welcome. The only prerequisite is a serious and dedicated appetite for fundamental endgame knowledge.

5. We will take a vote during the first session and decide if we will charge a small fee for pizza or other dinner food to be delivered to the club in order to make the 6:30pm "work to club" transition easier.
